2018 NFL Picks Week 14: Bouncing Back
We made a little headway last week, but we’ll need some magic to make the season a success.
Jacksonville Jaguars +5 at Tennessee Titans
I didn’t think Jacksonville’s defense would give up so explicitly, so Thursday’s game was a bit of a surprise. Never pick games in the AFC South!
Buffalo Bills -3.5 vs. New York Jets
Can Josh Allen run his way to a victory over the Jets? I think the Jets are just bad enough to go into Buffalo and lose.
New York Giants -3.5 at Washington Redskins
This game is on in our living room, and we had to Google to find out the Washington QB was Josh Johnson, who hasn’t thrown a pass since 2011. I’ll take the oddly dangerous Giants against Washington’s QB5.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers +9 vs. New Orleans Saints
Last week’s loss to Dallas scarred me, and Tampa Bay is a strange place to play this time of year. I think the Saints will win, but Jameis Winston will keep it close.
Miami Dolphins +8 vs. New England Patriots
Last year, the Dolphins beat the Patriots in Miami with Jay Cutler. Miami is just as weird as Tampa late in the season, and I think they’ll make it a game.
Kansas City Chiefs -7 vs. Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens have had a nice run with Lamar Jackson, and almost anything is an improvement over Joe Flacco, but I don’t think they can score enough points to keep things interesting in Kansas City.
Indianapolis Colts +5 at Houston Texans
Andrew Luck will bounce back from a rough game against the Jaguars by giving the Texans a loss for the first time since Week 3.
Atlanta Falcons +5 at Green Bay Packers
I don’t think either of these teams are very good, so it’s hard to figure out why the Packers are favored by so much. We’ll see if Joe Philbin can get more out of Green Bay than Mike McCarthy did.
Carolina Panthers -1.5 at Cleveland Browns
The Panthers are in a massive slump, and Cam Newton is probably injured, but I’m not ready to say they’ll lose to the Browns.
Denver Broncos -6 at San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers shouldn’t be less than a touchdown underdogs to anyone, should they? They’ve lost twice to the Cardinals!
Los Angeles Chargers -14.5 vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati’s porous defense will let Philip Rivers go for a career day, and Jeff Driskill isn’t talented enough to keep things close.
Detroit Lions -3 at Arizona Cardinals
I really appreciated the Arizona win in Green Bay last week, but it’s hard to picture them winning again any time soon.
Oakland Raiders +10.5 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh just isn’t the same team on the road, so a double digit spread is too much to pass up.
Philadelphia Eagles +3.5 at Dallas Cowboys
It’s about time for Dallas fans to come back to earth, and Carson Wentz will help them crash.
Los Angeles Rams -3.5 at Chicago Bears
Neither Chase Daniel nor Mitch Trubisky is good enough to keep pace with the Rams’ offense. Unless Khalil Mack dictates the entire game, this will show the gap between the Bears and the truly elite teams.
Minnesota Vikings +3 at Seattle Seahawks
It’s always tough to play in Seattle, but Case Keenum and co. need this win to stay in the playoff hunt.
That's all for this week! Kick back, grab a drink, and feel free to blame me if you put money on these picks and come out behind. I won't compensate you, but maybe your significant others will send their wrath in my direction instead of yours.
